Cleaning Your Glass
Cleaning Your Glass for Cocktails
There are several effective ways to clean out your candle to get ready for happy hour. Our easy-peel label and buttery soft natural wax blend make it incredibly easy to get from candle to cocktail in just a few minutes. Below are our 3 recommended methods for prepping your glassware.
Easy Method
Step 1: Remove the Labels
Remove the easy-peel label from the front of the glass as well as the warning label from the bottom of the candle by scraping it with your fingernail or a utility razor blade.
Step 2: Wipe and Clean
Use a spoon or butter knife to remove any remaining wax from the bottom of the glass. A metal spoon works great since it allows you to get into the corners easily. The metal wick tab is attached to the bottom of the glass with a small glue dot, so you may need to use a small amount of pressure to pop it off with your utensil of choice.
Step 3: Wash the Glass
A quick swipe with a paper towel can be helpful to remove any residual wax. Use a dab of dish soap and a sponge or brush to clean the glass. You can also choose to put your freshly cleaned glass in the top rack of the dishwasher for an extra level of cleanliness.
Freezer Method
Step 1: Remove the Labels
Remove the easy-peel label from the front of the glass as well as the warning label from the bottom of the candle by scraping it with your fingernail or a utility razor blade.
Step 2: Place the Candle in the Freezer
Pro Tip: For this method to work properly, your candle should have at least 1/2in of wax in the base. If you’ve burned your candle all the way down, you may want to consider the Easy Method.
Put your glass in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight. Once the wax has completely frozen solid, flip your glass upside down and firmly tap the base. The wax and wick should pop right out. Use a spoon or butter knife to remove any remaining wax from the bottom of the glass.
Step 3: Wash the Glass
Rinse the glass under warm water to remove any residual wax. Use dish soap and a sponge or brush to clean the glass thoroughly. You can also choose to put your freshly cleaned glass in the top rack of the dishwasher for an extra level of cleanliness.
Warning: Do not use hot water on a glass that is still frozen. The temperature change will cause the glass to crack and potentially shatter. Always remove the wax first and let the glass come back up to room temperature before washing.
Hot Water Method
Step 1: Remove the Labels
Remove the easy-peel label from the front of the glass as well as the warning label from the bottom of the candle by scraping it with your fingernail or a utility razor blade.
Step 2: Soak the Glass in Hot Water
Fill a large bowl with hot water and a few drops of dish soap. Place the candle glass in the bowl and let it soak for 30 minutes. The hot water will release the wax at the bottom of the glass and make it easy to remove any remaining debris.
Step 3: Wash the Glass
Use a sponge or brush to wipe off any remaining residue. You can also choose to put your freshly cleaned glass in the top rack of the dishwasher for an extra level of cleanliness.
